Region Amherst
The Township of Amherst, settled in 1887 is an area of nearly 261 km2 consisting of three villages that are proud of their long history: Saint-Rémi, Vendee and Rockaway Valley.
Its forests and numerous lakes, ponds and rivers, of which the Maskinongé divides the territory from North to South, distinguish the Town of Amherst.
Saint-Rémi is the terminus of the Aerobic Corridor cycling trail. This village's well-kept secret, a mine, which resulted in a village struck tragically by silicosis. Another place to discover is the trail to the fire tower and the tower itself, vestige of a bygone era.
